As the new school takes shape, we will engage with local school children and surrounding communities through creative arts projects promoting inclusion, collaboration and participation. The outcomes of some of this work will feature on this site.
Overview
Over the next two years the project will involve students from across the Mulberry Schools Trust and Year 5 children from local Wapping primary schools. They will join together to create a variety of art works culminating in an exhibition displayed on hoarding panels along The Highway, E1 that will change every term.
Theme
The theme of the artwork will focus around the history, heritage and communities of the Docklands area and Tower Hamlets more generally. Each piece of artwork will be inspired by a different street name or place name which tells us something about the history of the area – e.g. East India Dock, Cinnamon Street and Jamaica Street.
The work will combine natural forms with collage and will brilliantly incorporate the work of the older and younger students together.
This arts project was supported by St George.
