Black History Month: ‘Reclaiming Narratives’
As part of our celebration of this year’s Black History Month theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, children visited the Canal & River Trust’s barge in Paddington to explore the ingenuity and contributions of Black British figures to STEM.
They worked with designer, artist and engineer Omotunwase Osinaike, in an art workshop exploring the work of esteemed chemist Professor Robert Mokaya, whose work has focused on sustainable porous materials. Children also joined writer Aniefiok Ekpoudom at the Southbank Centre, on a journey through the social and cultural history of British rap in London, learning about the political, social and cultural movements which have shaped this kind of music.
